We have to note that this is the second best display of all our seven models, only behind the Garrett – Ace 250. The Treasure Cove – TC-3020 had an all-around good score on our five tests, making it worth considering. The Bounty Hunter – Gold Digger received an overall third place score on our five tests and can reliably find treasures in most conditions. Scoring near the top in all of our tests and yet having a very low price tag makes this detector our budget pick.

Nearly all metal sensors may also have a display using a pin indication which senses the magnetic field transformation at the same time. Most metal detectors are fairly easy to use, so this likely will not be an issue. The receiver coil picks up any metal object that comes into the magnetic field because of the variations in the frequency. When a metal comes into contact with these radio waves, the frequency of the large coil changes.
It is a law in place that obliges the metal detectorist to report their finds to their local coroner (your local finds liaison officer will point you in the right direction) within a 2-week time frame. Ploughed fields are usually very easy to dig because the ground is already broken.
If you are metal detecting on undisturbed pasture you should ensure that no damage is done to the archaeological value of the land. The Metal Detecting Code of Conduct is a voluntary practice that we should try at all times to follow. Before you go out and metal detect it is a good idea to follow on through our beginners series, the next part covers the Metal Detecting Code of Conduct. These places can be very misleading due to the word “public” and before we go into this you need to know that this does not mean you have any rights to metal detecting them. It is a good idea if you can get a permission to research your land first, we explain this further in the metal detecting researching land post.

Most importantly, they can detect coins, jewelry and relics at a reasonable depth (up 6″-8″ depending on the ground conditions). Granted, it is a pretty basic piece of kit, but it proved its worth in testing and there are plenty more detectorists who rate it highly, especially as a beach detector. The ‘Coin’ option will set the Ace 350 to only identify coin-like objects while the ‘Relic’ selection alerts users to the existence of buried World War I and II items. Again, they have many excellent beginner packs with everything you need included which provides value for money. Bounty Hunter Metal detectors are available in a wide variety of choices and included accessories.

We chose this range in an attempt to mimic what you would normally experience while detecting in the shallow water at the beach. Here we placed various coins, relics and gold best affordable metal detector underwater, each one submerged anywhere from four to 12 inches deep. It clearly and accurately marked on its LCD screen the depth of each object that it located. Also, we noted that the Garrett – Ace 250 not only achieved the highest score here, but that it was also the most intuitive.
