In a meeting with MMA OddsBreaker’s James Lynch, UFC welterweight Bojan Velickovic disclosed his training partner, former RFA welterweight champion Brandon”Ruckus” Thatch was booked to take on Brazil’s Erick Silva. There is no official date and location for its struggle booking, along with the bout has not been formally announced, however, Velickovic did state that it is in September, so one would suppose that could be September 24th’s UFC Fight Night 95 in Silva’s garden of Brasilia, Brazil. Both 170-pounders have their backs against the wall heading into this contest, as Thatch is coming off three consecutive losses, being completed by rear naked choke entry in three of these and Silva is coming off a pair of defeats himself, most recently a vicious knockout in the hands of Nordine Taleb. This is a small surprise match-up, as most guessed there was a good chance both welterweights are receiving their walking papers from the advertising following their latest outings inside the Octagon. The UFC has however decided that one of them must stick around, and in a promotion where some fighters get cut these welterweights are fortunate. Both Thatch and Silva have appeared to be on a decrease in recent bouts, so it will be intriguing to see how they will appear against each other when they square off this September. One fighter’s UFC story will last, while the person who tastes conquer will likely be inching closer to a Bellator contract, as it would likely serve him better to just hang up the gloves for good. Silva stands from Kings MMA CA under the tutelage of Master Rafael Cordeiro, in Huntington Beach. Thatch and Velickovic struggle out of Evolution Fight Team at Denver, CO.. Velickovic confronted former American Top Team training partner Michael Graves at the featured bout for the UFC Fight Pass prelims for UFC 201 last evening with his departure resulting in a vast majority draw.
